What this page does in your browser

Nothing. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, runs no script, and loads no font, map, video or button from anyone else. Every part of the page comes from this one address. There is nothing here to consent to, which is why you were not asked.

What the server records

Asking for a page means your device sends a request, and the server writes that request down: the time, the address you asked for, your IP address, and the browser string your device sends. That log exists to keep the service running and to see when something is being attacked. It is kept only as long as it is useful for those two things and is then discarded. It is not used to build a profile, and it is not shared with anyone for advertising.

The site is served through Cloudflare, which sits in front of it and therefore also handles your request. Cloudflare acts as our processor for that traffic.

If you use the form on the front page

The form asks for your email address, where people find you now, roughly how many places you let, and, if you like, which booking system you use. Only the address is required. What you send is stored on our own server and used to answer you and, if you become a client, to build and run your website. It is not passed to anyone else, and it does not put you on a mailing list. An enquiry that does not become work is deleted once it is clear it will not.

The page carries no captcha and no third-party service. To stop automated submissions the form has a hidden field a person never sees, and the server counts how many messages have come from one internet address recently. That count is held in memory only and is not kept.

If you connect a booking system

A client can give us an access code from their booking system (Guesty, for now) so that we can read what they already wrote there: the names and descriptions of their places, photographs, addresses, prices, house rules and check-in times. We read that once, and again only when the client asks for a fresh copy. We never make, change or cancel a booking, and we do not read guest names, guest messages or payment details.

The access code is stored on our own server in encrypted form and is used for nothing but that reading. The client can withdraw it at any time from their page with us, after which we hold no way into their booking system; what was already copied stays, because it is the material their website is made of. Photographs copied this way are kept on our server so that the client's website does not depend on the booking system being reachable.

What we copy is the client's own material, not personal data about their guests. If a description or a review the client chose to show contains a name, it is there because the client put it there, and their own privacy page covers it.

If you email us

The email address on this site is a plain link: selecting it opens your own mail program and sends nothing until you do. If you write to us, we keep the message and your address so that we can answer it and, if you become a client, so we have a record of what was agreed. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass your address to anyone else.

An enquiry that does not become work is deleted once it is clear it will not. Correspondence with a client is kept for as long as the law requires records of a business relationship to be kept, and then deleted.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and object to us holding it. Write to [email protected] and you will get an answer. If the answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to a data protection supervisory authority in your country.

Websites we build for clients

A site we build for a client is that client's site, on their own address, and their own imprint and privacy page applies to it. This page covers only the site you are reading now.

While we build, a client has a private page with us, reached by a link we send to their address and to nobody else. It shows what we have from them and lets them choose a design, add photographs and tell us what to change. It sets no cookies and loads nothing from anyone else, like this page.
